Reiki is a simple, but powerful spiritual development system that was established in Japan at the turn of the 20th century by a gentleman called Mikao Usui.

The system was ingrained in Tendai Buddhism & Shintoism which were the traditional teachings in Japan at the time.

Reiki was taught in a similar way to Marshall Arts, with the student developing at their own pace & progressing from one stage to another when it was thought they were ready.
As well as working with energy to promote self healing, Mikao Usui defined a set of precepts for one to live by -
THE SECRET OF INVITING HAPPINESS THROUGH MANY BLESSINGS...
MIKAO USUI 1865-1926
It is said that as much development can be achieved by following the precepts as by performing the energy work.
The common translation for Reiki in the West is ‘Universal Energy’ or more recently ‘a system that has been arrived at through a moment of enlightenment’.
As Reiki has been passed down from Master to student & travelled through the West, many changes have occurred. Enlightening information has been arriving from Japan since the late 1990’s & the true origins of Reiki are starting to be more widely practised & accepted - the courses that I teach are based upon the essence of this research.
As a therapy, Reiki works holistically which enables you to heal deeply at all levels. It supports & encourages your body to heal itself. We all have the natural ability to heal from within; sometimes we just need a little help to empower ourselves.
Reiki is healing, harmonising & balancing. It encourages the unison between body & mind & soul, & my clients always leave feeling lighter & more relaxed than when they arrived. It also helps you to have compassion for yourself & others (see the Reiki Precepts) - growing compassion for all is a powerful concept & will surely benefit all beings to make the world a much more accepting & loving place for us all to exist together.
